The Iraqi Parliament on Sunday decided to form a panel to amend the Arab country’s Constitution. “The parliament has formed a panel to amend the constitution and called on political blocs to nominate members to the panel,” lawmaker Selim Shawki told Anadolu Agency. The Iraqi Constitution was approved in a referendum in 2005. There are 18 articles of the 142-article document that are disputed by Iraq’s political blocs. One of the most controversial articles is the one related to the status of the oil-rich province of Kirkuk in northern Iraq. The amended version of the Iraqi Constitution must by approved by a referendum.
