Deformed Figures

Veteran painter Hossein-Ali Zabehi has set up a solo show at Hoor Art Gallery.

The exhibition, running through May 18, features still life, figurative paintings and portraits in a deformed realism, combined with abstraction, surrealism and expressionism, Honaronline reported.

The venue is located at No. 12, Naeimi Alley on Mirza Shirazi Street, north of Motahari Street.  It is closed on Saturdays.

Zabehi, 73, was born in Tehran, Iran. He graduated with a degree in painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Tehran University of Art in 1968 under the supervision of painter Mohammad Ebrahim Jafari. He went to Paris in 1971 to learn more under the tutelage of Swiss painter Pierre Matthey at the Beaux-Arts Faculty.

He obtained a master’s degree in 1975 and returned to Iran. He taught at art schools and colleges for five years and continued painting. In 1989, he was invited by the University of Art to teach painting. He has been teaching painting at both the Islamic Azad University and the University of Art.
