Play Reading at City Theater

Works of the late contemporary playwright Mahmoud Ostad-Mohammad (1950-2013), are being read on stage at Tehran City Theater, July 25-30.

Organized by Ostad-Mohammad Foundation, the event commemorates the fifth death anniversary of the renowned playwright.

It will feature five plays: The Last Game (1999), Jasmin Flower (1982), The Theatric Divan (2001), Seyed Delbar (2001) and Tah Ran (2008), Honaronline reported on its Persian website.

Theater directors Alireza Behjati, Mohsen Azimi, Mohammad-Reza Qaribzadeh, Shaqayeq Orfinejad, Ahmad Siyah-Rostami direct the stage readings. Entry is free.

Born in Tehran, Ostad-Mohammad started his theater career as an actor. Later he joined the theater ensemble led by the prominent playwright Bijan Mofid (1935-1984).

Ostad-Mohammad wrote and directed more than 20 plays and TV series. He was based in Canada from 1985 to 1998 and wrote several plays there. He succumbed to liver cancer in Tehran at the age of 63.
