Veteran theater actor Parviz Mamnoon will hold a workshop on Naqqali at the Institute for Promotion of Contemporary Art in Tehran from April 30-May 4.
Iranian storytelling tradition known as ‘Naqqali’ is the narrating of important stories from Iranian fables, myths and epics mentioned in important books from ancient times. It is usually undertaken before a big cloth or canvas hung on the walls of tea or coffee houses, painted on which are the events of the story being narrated by a reciter known as naqqal.
Last year the institute published Mamnoon’s book about history of theater in Isfahan Province, Honaronline reported on its Persian website.
The institute is at No .10, Arshad Alley, South Aban Street on Karimkhan Avenue.
