Praxis Theater Group from Tehran is to take one of its most acclaimed works ‘I’m a Woman, Can You Hear Me?’ on stage on April 26 in Karlsruhe, southwest Germany, as part of the biennial cultural festival of Europäische Kulturtage (European Days of Culture).
Slated for April 20-May 5, the festival is held in several venues throughout the city including theater, cinemas and museums.
Written and directed by Camelia Ghazali, the play had a one-month performance at Molavi Theater Hall in Tehran last December and was warmly welcomed.
The performance will be presented with German and English supertitles. It will be followed by a discussion in the presence of Ghazali and the dramaturge Tomaj Danesh-Behzadi, Honaronline reported on its Persian website.
On stage, seven actresses and one actor present stories from the lives of today’s Iranian women, namely their losses, gains, happiness, pain and suffering. A grandmother tries to end the problems in the lives of her relatives: a mother on the run who fights with herself and is confused whether she should stay or go; a girl in love who has long been forgotten by her beloved and wants to burn herself, and … The cast includes Elnaz Esmailzadegan, Diba Khatami, Laleh Marzban, Sanaz Najafi, Mahsa Nemati, Darya Yaseri and Soroush Kariminejad.
