Tehran Quintet Plays Piazzolla

Music band “Tehran Quintet” will perform compositions by Argentine composer, arranger and bandoneon player Astor Piazzolla (1921-92) at Roudaki Hall in Tehran.

The event is planned for May 4 and will perform compositions arranged for piano, violin, contrabass, electric guitar and bandoneon, a type of concertina particularly popular in Argentina. This arrangement was recommended by Piazzolla himself.

Soroush Sadeqi plays the piano and Mehrdad Mehdi is on bandoneon. Other band members are Farzan Falakdehi on electric guitar, Alireza Chehreqani on violin and Mohammad Reza Jabbar on contrabass, Khabaronline reported.

Piazzolla’s career is characterized by his aesthetic power and unique style, almost in a league of his own. His music is unmatched. When listening to it, one tends to wonder where its roots are.

With heterogeneous elements (jazz, classical music and experiments in sound), Piazzolla created a unique music style of his own.
