City Theater is hosting an adaptation of “Molly Sweeney” penned by Irish dramatist and short story writer Brian Friel (1929-2015). The piece, directed by Morteza Mir-Montazemi stars Amir Aqaei, Saber Abar and Elham Korda, Tiwall.com reported.
Molly Sweeny tells the story of its title character, Molly. Born blind, she undergoes an operation to restore her sight. The play is written as a series of monologues, and unfolds as the three main characters Molly, her husband Frank, and her surgeon, Mr. Rice tell their own versions of Molly’s recovery process. Soon she enters a state of profound disillusionment as her safe and secure world, created by her vivid imagination, is swapped for a reality she was not ready for.
