Among the recently released books of Cheshmeh Publication is a Persian rendering of the 2006 novel by French writer Jean Teulé, titled “Suicide Shop”.
The book has been translated by Ehsan Karam Veisi in 114 pages, Honaronline reported on its Persian website.
Suicide Shop is a black comedy novel set in a future city in a world suffering from the ravages of severe climate change, where everybody is depressed and many have lost the will to live. But business is brisk at the Suicide Shop. Run by the Tuvache family for generations, the shop offers an amazing variety of ways to end it all, with something to fit every budget.
The Tuvaches take pride in the morbid service they provide. Until the youngest member of the family threatens to destroy their misery by confronting them with something they never encountered before: a love of life.
The novel was adapted into an animation with the same name by French film director Patrice Leconte in 2012.
