Iranian Artists Forum in Tehran will host a ceremony on Wednesday to commemorate the late poet, translator and documentarian Houshang Azadivar who passed away last month at the age of 76.
Screenwriter Mohammadreza Aslani, writer and researcher Soudabeh Fazayeli and film editor Mitra Karagah will speak on Azadivar’s character and works, Honaronline reported on its Persian website.
Azadivar was one of the editors of the Tehran office of Frankline Book program, an American non-profit organization seeking to aid the development of indigenous book publishing in Asia, Africa and Latin America. “Gol-e Qali” (the carpet’s flower) is one of his documentaries he made in 1974. He also lent his voice to some documentaries (as a narrator).
Among his translations are “The Glass Menagerie” and “A Streetcar Named Desire” by American playwright Tennessee Williams as well as “A History of Narrative Film” by David Cook.
