Raj Gallery is set for a single screening of the 1944 noir mystery drama “Double Indemnity” on June 26.
The film is directed by Billy Wilder, and co-written by Wilder and Raymond Chandler.
It is an adaptation of a James M. Cain novel. Phyllis Dietrichson seduces insurance agent Walter Neff into murdering her husband to collect his accident insurance. Prompted by the late Dietrichson’s daughter, Lola, insurance investigator Barton Keyes, Neff’s boss, looks into the case and gradually begins to uncover the sinister plot.
Barbara Stanwyck, Fred MacMurray, Edward G. Robinson, Raymond Chandler, Jean Heather and Porter Hall are in the cast.
