Iranian Artists Forum is to hold a ceremony in honor and memory of late philosopher, author and cultural theoretician Dariush Shayegan (1935-2018).

Slated for June 28, the ceremony will be held at Shahnaz Hall of the IAF in Tehran. Lectures are planned for the event by notable cultural figures, ISNA reported on its Persian website.

Philosopher Reza Davari-Ardakani, a distinguished emeritus professor of philosophy at the University of Tehran, is among the speakers along with philosophers Gholam-Hossein Ebrahimi-Dinani and Gholam-Reza Avani.

Other speakers are psychologist, author and literary critic Mohammad Sanati and painter, illustrator, author, art critic and art historian Aydin Aghdashloo.

IAF is located on the southern flank of Artists Park on Iranshahr Street.

Shayegan, known for his book “Cultural Schizophrenia,” died in Tehran on March 22 at the age of 83 after suffering a stroke. He received his Ph.D from Sorbonne University in Paris in the 1960s. He won the French ADELF award presented by the Association of French Authors in 2004 for his French novel “Land of Mirage.” In 2016, Shayegan described himself in these words: “I am not a philosopher, I am a free thinker.”
