Desperate at Nine

Social drama “Tradition of Killing Lovers,” a 2003 production written and directed by Khosrow Masoumi is to have a single screening plus a review session in the presence of the director and two actors at Cine-Eye Institute on July 14.

According to Tiwall.com, Gohar Kheir-Andish and Hossein Mahjoub are the two actors invited for the review session.

Salar who makes a living by illegal logging is arrested and sentenced to a year in prison. His chainsaw, which belonged to the big wood smuggler of the region, Mirza, is confiscated.

Mirza pressures Salar’s wife, who now has lost the breadwinner of her family and is dealing with a financial crisis, to pay for the saw. Despondent by the situation, Salar’s 9-year-old son, Jalal, makes a covert deal with Mirza to work for him and clear his father’s debt. Every day Jalal ditches school and goes to the jungle to stand watch while Mirza’s workers cut down trees. The film reaches its climax when Mirza and his men kill a young soldier, and Jalal as an eyewitness is terrified to tell anyone about the truth.  Hourieh Mohammadi, Arman Nikzad, Mehran Rajabi, Hossein Abedini, Mohsen Qazi-Moradi and Mehrdad Falahatgar are the other members of the cast. The institute is located at No. 120, 2nd Golestan Street on Pasdaran Avenue.
