A group of 30 painters have presented their paintings of Kharanaq Citadel at an exhibition underway at Melal Art Gallery in Tehran.
Titled “Landscape,” the exhibit opened Friday and will run through July 29, Honaronline reported on its Persian website.
The historical citadel is near the tourist village by the same name in Ardakan County, Yazd Province. The citadel dates back to the Sassanid era (224-651 AD). The village is 60km east of Ardakan and 85km northeast of Yazd city.
Each participating painter has chosen a different angle to depict the ancient citadel. The paintings show the citadel’s minaret, bathhouse, mosque and the fascinating labyrinth of alleyways and tunnels among other features of the brick and mud landscape. Akbar Rafiee, Raheleh Barkhordari, Ali Zakeri, Gholam-Hossein Sohrabi, Faranak Derakhshan, Farnaz Nikoukhah, Laleh Qazi-Vakili, Mitra Samadi and Homa Keshavarzi are some of the painters who have contributed to the exhibit. The gallery is located in Qeytarieh Park in north Tehran.
