Book City Institute’s central branch in Tehran will hold a ceremony on Monday to unveil the 25th List of Flying Turtle, a list of children and young adults’ books presented seasonally by Book City and the Professional Quarterly Journal on Children and Young Adults’ literature.
Age-specific programs have been planned for the event. One of the books on the new list will be read aloud, LISNA reported on its Persian website.
Over 50 writers and translators will attend the Flying Turtle celebration to meet their fans and sign their books.
The 25th list is selected by a group of writers, specialists and literary critics. Evaluators include children’s writers, namely Masoumeh Ansarian, Mahmoud Barabadi, Mina Haddadian, Shadi Khoshkar, Roya Mirghiasi, Ali-Asghar Seyedabadi and Jafar Touzandeh-Jani.
Jury members of the 25th list are author and literary researcher Fatemeh Zamani; freelance writer and literary researcher Shokouh Haji-Nasrollah; pedagogist and author Shiva Hariri; literary researcher and author Gisou Faghfouri; translator Neli Mahjoub; and poet Maryam Mohammadkhani.
The jury’s criteria for evaluating the books included the ability of the writer in creating a new and unique world; literary background, innovation, authenticity of content, contemporaneity of information, distance from overgeneralization and oversimplification, consideration of children’s needs and necessities, impartiality and focus on facts.
Central branch of Book City is located on Shariati Street, between Motahari and Beheshti streets.
