Kiarostami’s ‘Wind Will Carry Us’ for Single Screening

Charsou Art and Cultural Institute will have a single screening of the 1999 film “The Wind Will Carry Us” by late auteur Abbas Kiarostami on August 5.

The film’s title is a reference to a poem written by the influential poet and filmmaker Forough Farrokhzad (1935-1967).

Kiarostami’s film begins by showing a team of engineers from Tehran, en route to the tiny remote Kurdish village of Siah Darreh in western province of Kurdistan. What the villagers do not know about the strangers is that they are a filmmaking crew and, in fact, have come to document an obscure local funeral ritual of a colleague’s relative, Tiwall.com wrote.

Born in Tehran, Kiarostami was an accomplished  filmmaker since 1970 for his 40 plus films, including shorts, documentaries and features. “Where Is the Friend’s Home?” (1987), “Close-Up” (1990) and “Taste of Cherry” (1997) are among his notable works.

He studied at the College of Fine Arts, University of Tehran, and later worked as a graphic designer, book illustrator and advertising filmmaker. He received more than 80 international awards for his outstanding works.

The institute is located at No. 24, Shaqaqi Street, northwest of Seyed Khandan Bridge
