An anthropological study on the natural and cultural heritage of Qeshm relating to water has commenced as a joint project between the Anthropological Research Center of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts, and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO) and the Qeshm provincial office of the organization.
This is the first study of a series of joint research projects between the two sides which are supported by the Qeshm Free Trade Zone under the title ‘Persian Gulf Anthropological Studies Group’.
The study will examine and record the local water management system, as well as its cultural aspects, practiced by Qeshm people for years so that it can be used by policy makers in planning for cultural and management policies for water.
The study group will also conduct research on tourism infrastructure, the structure of family and relations in the region, and the environmental and cultural structure of Qeshm natural heritage. Results of the projects will be published in a book, both in Farsi and English.
