Footage has emerged of Novak Djokovic training with former coach Marian Vajda as the 12-time Grand Slam champion begins his preparations for the clay-court season.
The Serb recently split with both Andre Agassi and Radek Stepanek and was expected to go it alone for the coming months. But he was filmed training with Vajda at his side in Marbella, Spain, in what would no doubt be a popular reunion for Djokovic fans, Metro reported.
The former world No. 1 won all 12 of his major titles under the stewardship of the Slovak before a surprising parting of ways last year.
Since Vajda’s departure from Team Djokovic, though, a lack of fitness and form has plagued the 30-year-old. After losing three matches in a row for the first time since 2007, Stepanek and Agassi were shown the door.
Whether Vajda is planning to return to Djokovic’s team on a full-time basis or is just helping him for a brief period of time remains to be seen. But with Djokovic desperately seeking to find his best form, the return of the man who guided him to years of success at the top of the sport is no doubt encouraging.
