Iranian Women Referees Seeking Int’l Accreditation

Iranian women referees in wrestling will receive international training and attend tests to qualify for officiating in the World Women Classic Style and other international games.

The referees are to learn the dress codes for the event as well as other rules set out by the United World Wresting, IRNA reported.

After talks between UWW President Nenad Lalovic and the head of Iran Wrestling Federation, Rasoul Khadem, in Serbia earlier this week, the world body agreed to train Iranian women referees and give them certification for judging international events.

Those who participate in the training sessions will not be available in time for World Women Classic Style in Tehran slated for July 12-13, which will make use of women referees from other countries rather than national ones.

Hosting the games as well as listing it in the calendar of UWW became possible after Khadem met with Lalovic.
