Portugal to Clear Extra IMF Debt

Portugal’s finance minister has said that the country intended to make an early repayment of €1 billion ($1.12 billion) to the International Monetary Fund before the end of this month as part of the bailout package loans, PortugalNews reported. Speaking to reporters at the end of a meeting with fellow finance ministers, which touched on the request at the previous Ecofin meeting asking that Portugal could make an early repayment to the IMF of up to €10 billion, Mario Centeno said the process was going well and he hoped to be able to repay a tenth of this amount before the end of June.
